Built for Teamwork
With recent division championships in basketball, football and lacrosse, the Blue Ridge School Barons are tough to beat. In fact, many boys have earned Division I & II college scholarships from playing here. But our athletics teams offer glory outside the playing field, too.
Our 17 athletic teams and outdoor programs are an intentional part of the overall Blue Ridge experience, developing knowledge and character as much as they develop fitness and teamwork. Our all-boarding environment deepens that experience, creating tight bonds between boys who learn, live, and play together. When you are together 24/7, you hold your team, culture, and the greater good above your differences—a critical lesson to bring into manhood. And with diverse sports to try, boys are sure to find at least one that creates lifelong fitness habits.
Our Baron Athletic Complex includes an all-season turf field, a 2000 square-foot training room, and a multi-sport field house. When you add that to our 750-acre campus and 15 miles of trails for biking, cross-country, and outdoor programs, you’ll find most schools can’t compete with the variety of offerings and facilities Blue Ridge School offers.
From sports like football, basketball, and track to more unique options like mountain biking, mixed martial arts, and outdoorsmanship, there is a team for every boy and every skill level. On our teams you’ll find boys playing a sport for the first time, boys playing because they love the game, boys aspiring to college sports, and boys working toward playing in the pros. There is a place for everyone
At Blue Ridge School, boys win on and off the court, because winning a game is only part of the goal. Our athletics program also focuses on teaching boys how to be a valuable team member, deal with adversity, be a good sportsman, manage their time, set goals, and work hard, both individually and as a team. While we excel at developing athletes, we also excel at developing student-athletes and men.
Blue Ridge School Athletics Mission Statement
Athletics are an integral part of the education a student receives at Blue Ridge School. We pride ourselves on running a competitive athletic program that focuses on the student athlete experience. Our student athletes develop through practice, competition and collaborative team efforts. We believe athletics help build character, perseverance and teamwork, all qualities that we seek to instill in our students. To achieve this goal we are proud to field athletic teams that are competitive at the conference and state levels led by effective coaches and supported by a dedicated athletics staff. We expect our student athletes to exemplify sportsmanship, respect themselves and others, be good teammates, and possess a strong work ethic. Our programs are an extension of the classroom and an essential component of our school’s mission.
